電車に乗るごとに日本語とにらめっこして切符を買ったり、バスごとに小銭を数えて小銭入れに入れるのはとても面倒です。
日本在住歴30年の私が、おすすめする方法をお伝えします。
なお、この方法は東京エリア限定のため、それ以外の場所を旅行する場合には以下の記事で確認してください。
2019年から、旅行者用カードが発売されました。その特徴と買い方について説明します。
名前は”WELCOME SUICA”で、指定した値段分のお金が入ったプリペイドカードです。
ざっくり特徴をまとめるとこんな感じ。
- クレジットカードで買える
- 空港で買える
- チャージも可能
- 初期手数料が不要
- 中にあるお金の払い戻しが出来ない
- 28日間経つと使用できなくなる
- プリペイドカードの金額が足りなくなった場合は、現金のみ入金が出来ます
おすすめの購入場所は、羽田空港や成田空港です。
一応、都内のメジャーな駅にあるJR EAST TRAVEL CENTERで買うことも出来ますが、場所が分かりにくかったりするので個人的にはあんまりおすすめしません。
なお、12歳に達するまでは子供用のWELCOME SUICAを買うことができます。このとき、保険証などの年齢が分かるものを用意して下さい。
羽田空港を例にとって説明します。成田空港の電車切符売り場の同じような機械で買えますので、下のやり方を見ていって下さい。市内にも売っている場所はありますが、空港で買うのが一番確実です。
日本につくと、羽田空港の第3ターミナルの到着ロビー（２階）に到着します。
この2階から市内に向かう電車が2ルートあります。
モノレールの切符売り場でしか売っていません！ご注意ください。
この写真のここの部分です。
この画面の自分の言語を選びます。自分の言語がなければ、今回赤い四角で囲ったエリアを同じように押していただければ大丈夫です。
買う人の分が大人用か子供用かを選択します。左上が大人、左下が子供となります。
なお、子供用を選択すると、このような画面となり、買う人の年齢確認を行う画面に移り、次からは大人用の画面と同じとなります。
子供用のSUICAは運賃が半額になりますが、ゲートを通る時に子供用の音楽が鳴ります。
次に、入金金額を決めます。
国内のほとんどのお店で使えるので、結構多めに入れて大丈夫だと思います。今回は試しで自分用に買うので、1000円を選びます。今のところ、上限は10000円のようです。もうちょっと上限上げてくれても良かったのに。。
次のこの画面で、1日中、jr社の電車が使い放題になる件を購入できますが、高い上に、一つの会社の電車しか使えないため、買う必要はありません。下のボタンを押しましょう。（一番迷いやすい選択肢です）
先程のボタンを押したら、日本円又はクレジットカードを下の投入口に入れましょう。
今回は、クレジットカードで購入します。
投入後、下のキーボードで暗証番号を入力します。
入力後、30秒くらい待ちます。
その後、レシートとプリペイドカードが出てきます。
ようやく、どこでも気軽に支払いができるようになりました。
ゆっくり旅を楽しむことが出来ます。
こんな感じの機械が日本中のお店にあります。”SUICA-BARAI”と言えば、これで払おうとしていることが分かりますので、言った後にこの機械にWELCOME-SUICAをかざしてみましょう。音がなったら支払い完了です。
なお、コーヒーはこの後美味しく頂きました。（オートミールラテだそうです。）

使えるお店は、バスや電車を始め、ほとんどの飲食店や家電量販店などになります。ホテルや観光地でも使えます。
買える場所は都内だけですが、使える場所は日本国内全域なので、東京から他の場所に移る場合でも安心して使えます。
